How To Interview Like A Pro: The Longest Job Interview is Over

I have been writing a book called How To Interview Like A Pro. I have been noticing the parallels between the election process and the Interview process. Looking at my Table of Contents, I can't even tell whether I am talking about a job interview or the Presidential Election since the advice is basically the same. Here are some examples:

How To Prepare for an Interview
1. Do Your Homework (Where is Russia? )
2. How the Internet has Changed Everything ( Text messages from candidates.)
3. Check Competitor's Website
4. Learn the buzz words (The Bush Doctrine.)
5. Find Out Who is Interviewing ( Fox News or CNN)

The Interview
1. Location ( Town Hall or Debates.)
2. What to Wear (Nieman Marcus or Thrift Shop.)
3. Body Language ( How Does One Look Presidential?)
4. Be Careful With The Jokes (No Foot in Mouth.)
5. Have fun and Don't be Boring (Saturday Night Live.)
6. Expect the Question You Don't Want to Answer ( Tim Russert taught us that.)
7. Where do you want to be in five years( or four or eight?)
8. Is there anything embarrassing in your background (Jeremiah Wright, Aerial wolf hunting?)
10. What experience do you have for this job ( Executive experience, Community organizing, and Legislative experience?)
11. Even If You Don't Get the Job, the interview may help you next time ( Palin.)

The job interview took a long time, but we found out a lot about the candidates. I am glad the interviewing (voting) is over. We have a new President. What a Country!
